YoungKwang (“YK”) Jun was named Interim Director of Music Ministry at Centenary UMC in August, 2022. In this role, YK is responsible for planning and implementing Centenary’s music program, working in collaboration with the Pastor and the Worship Committee. YK came to Centenary after serving as Director of Music and Worship Arts at Denville (NJ) Community Church for five years.
A native of South Korea, YK began playing piano at age five, and later enrolled at the prestigious Seoul Yego Arts School. From this young age, he received numerous awards recognizing him as an exceptional pianist at various national piano competitions. YK also appeared with orchestras and in recitals throughout South Korea.
YK moved to New Jersey in 2014 to study theology and church music at Drew Theological School, and to continue his career in the United States as a church musician and worship leader. While at Drew Theologica School, YK served as Associate Director of Music for the Craig Chapel. YK has had the privilege of traveling the country, leading worship sessions along with other talented musicians, at United Methodist annual conferences and events for years. He is also very active with music ministry in the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference.
YK is married to Centenary’s pastor, Rev. Sooah Na. They reside in Metuchen.
