REV.  SOOAH NA – PASTOR, CENTENARY UMC

Rev. Sooah Na began her tenure as pastor at Centenary United Methodist Church in July, 2020. Pastor Sooah came to Centenary after serving as lead pastor at the Community Church of Hoboken for three years.

“I have great passion for teaching people about Jesus’ love. I love to care for the community and for the world,” said Pastor Sooah. “Church is like family, and we all need each other. I’m a pastor for the people.”

Pastor Sooah had a great impact at the Community Church of Hoboken. She helped grow CCH’s  congregation by 25 per cent, re-established a Sunday School program after an 18-year lapse, and reinvigorated the church’s choir.

Pastor Sooah graduated from Methodist Theological University in Seoul, Korea, with a bachelor’s degree in Theology. She received her Master of Divinity degree from Drew University’s Theological School, where she received the Frederick Buechner Prize for Excellence in Preaching, recognizing “excellence in preaching and public proclamation of the gospel.” Her faith has been a large part of her family life, as both her father and father-in-law are pastors.

Pastor Sooah is also known as an outstanding musician, and served in the nationwide touring band “The Annointing” in Korea in 2009-10. She remains active in the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference’s praise band. Pastor Sooah’s husband, YoungKwang Jun, is a gifted worship leader and musician, and is currently Director of Music Ministry at Denville Community Church.
