Dear Centenary UMC Members and Friends,
We are facing uncertain and chaotic times. Our world as we know it is now in turmoil and disarray. School systems in Metuchen and Edison are closing their doors because of the COVID-19 virus. A National Emergency has been declared by our President with respect to the spread of the Corona virus.
We need to respond by temporarily closing our church doors so no further harm can come upon us. Social distancing is the right response to try to contain, and prevent, the spread of the virus. Metuchen Mayor Jonathan Busch has requested that religious institutions provide online worship services so congregants can receive the spiritual thought they need, in the comfort of their homes, without jeopardizing their own health, and/or the health of others. So, effective Sunday, March 15th, all Centenary UMC worship services will be available to view online on our Facebook page:
I deeply care about each and every one of you, and uphold you in my prayers. I wish you and your beloved health and safety. I pray that God will hold you and your beloved in the palm of his hands and surround you with comfort to sustain you during this uncertain time. The decision of cancelling our services has been a difficult one, but the purpose is to prevent the spread of the virus and to keep it as contained as much possible. Members of the Centenary UMC staff, and church leaders, are available to help you in any way you might need.
Please join me in praying for all who effected by COVID-19, those who help and prevent and treat this illness, and for those who are isolated during this time. I urge you all to especially check on your love ones, and join us in online worship.
